“BROKEN OAKS”By Frank Merle — A Down Home Slice of Horror
“Broken Oaks” is a film that combines the classic psycho–killer suspense and scares of iconic horror films such as
“Halloween” or “Friday the 13th” with a deeper, character – driven psychological thriller element that made
films like “The Shining” and “Silence of the Lambs” so successful.
Five college friends in need of extra credit agree to spend a weekend on a small farmway out in the country.
Miles from the nearest town and entirely cut off from theoutside world with no phone service or internet, they
are understandably shakenwhen their car breaks down and they are trapped on the farm, helplessly
awaiting rescue. But when a member of their group mysteriously disappears, they are forced toask themselves
whether this is mere coincidence or an ill–omen for them all. By thetime they‘ve decided that they are not simply
being paranoid, they‘ve alreadyunwittingly uncovered a sinister plot designed to make them the stars of a
bizarre snuff film.
